Bokjari / Demultiple
Installation In Seoul City Hall Plaza
2013
Demultiple was made for the Architecture Week in October 2013, in front of the Seoul City Hall. Our aim was to create a new field of perception, to allow city flaneurs and passer-by to casually sit, check their hair, take pictures, but also experiencing an infinite multiplication of their own image, revealing new qualities of light and city perspectives. The four mirrors created a strong effect of reversing directions; one could see anew the very landscape that was in the everyday environment. Some people also ate a snack, waiting for a friend.
Zzum / Expansion
Installation In ClayArch Museum, Gimhae, Korea
2013
The big bang expansion model refers to a time before light or materials as we know them, a ripple in a wider landscape of unknown dimensions, the moment of sudden expansion when our universe emerged. The mirrored space is about the edges of perception, the idea of an infinite universe, a space that challenges our sense of limits while allowing free movement and exploration. The name is a reference to ZimZum, the energy of god's genesis by Barnett Newman in 1969.
Dark Kiosk / 칠흑정자
Installation In ARKO Museum, Seoul, Korea
2013
Dark Kisok was produced for the summer exhibition of Arko Gallery in 2013, along with 12 Artists. Our proposal was to design furniture, as architects do, but one that would alter your perception of the environment, the people around, the space of the room. They are a reference to the JeongJa, a open public shelter, that consist of a platform and a roof, which can be seen on the edge of rice fields or urban environments in Korea. By placing it high above the eye level it would create new way to be in the room, establishing new social and spatial interactions.
